fastest 350 days ever

my birthday is in 15 days.
wasn't it just my birthday? wasn't i just in Vegas? wasn't i just lamenting and struggling with turning 30, still single, and trying to rejoice in where the Lord had me?

i mentioned back around new years that 2011 was kind of a crappy year. some of it continued into this year. i'm not saying 30 was a crappy year.
it was a hard year, but a good year. i am a different woman than i was this time last year, having a staring contest with 30, afraid that if i blinked, it would pounce. I thought maybe if i kept my eye on it, or willed it to back off, it would go away. or at least i could magically change the circumstances surrounding it.

now here i am today. same job. same living situation (which i love). same martial status.
but it's expanded. it's like my life was a balloon that got a few more puffs of air. from far away it doesn't look that different. but it is

new people in my life. new babies in my life. new friendships. deeper friendships. new purposes, goals and even joys.

31 doesn't look so bad. i'm not nearly as scared of it as i was 30. i'm still not ideally where i'd like to be. but that is ok. I am where the Lord has me today. and it looks pretty great. if i just focused on my ideal, i'd be pretty sad all the time.

anyway, i did make a birthday wish list.
here we go

1) trip to Croatia, Italy...anywhere over there. i've been spending way too much time on airbnb
2) this

4) a new tattoo
5) a charlie and nell boyfriend doll
6) chanel nail polish
7) this perfect tshirt
8) a baby elephant in a raincoat

9) a case of cookie butter

3 go to's

today i was reading about a fun movie club over on joanna's blog. she talked about a group of girls that have a movie club watching their dad's favorite movies.
i want to start watching/reading/listening to stuff i normally don't.
so i am going to ask around. please answer this question if you read here, even if they are typical answers
what are your 3 go-to
these are the ones that you have read/watched/listened to billions of times. but you are always up for doing it again.
these would be mine
  1. The Little Prince. i adore this book. it's such a sweet children's story. and my favorite quote comes from it. the fox tells the prince a secret which is "it is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye"
  2. Persuasion. it's stupid how much i love this book. it's my favorite Jane Austin book. it's just excellent. for once she has a character that isn't whiny, but sweet and noble.
  3. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. the final book is my favorite. but i loved this one so much. I read it the fastest. Like, i destroyed it.
1.Rocky. Doy. We've been over this. but i just love it so much. it' so good. always so good

2.Annie Hall. quite cliche, but i love it. the scene with the lobsters is my favorite moment

3. Sixteen Candles. to this day the last scene in that movie gives me butterflies "me?" "yea you!"

*honorable mention Center Stage. the acting is horrible. but it's awesome. so awesome.
    1. Heartbreaker by Ryan Adams. this was his first solo album. this was the album that made me fall in love with him forever

    2. Desire by Bob Dylan. I love so many of his albums, but this one is the best to have on at night while puttering around the house

    3. Best of Billie Holiday. You don't really get real albums for older artists like that. buy my best of is amazing. you can just listen to it on repeat for days. and pretend to slow dance with Jason Segel or Ryan Gosling or such while it's playing.
    now... you tell me yours

august here and there

i've been looking forward to august since june. i knew i would be returning to Maryland, visiting with some of my favorite people. they hold a big chunk of my heart right now. it ended up with aly & kyle posting a countdown on instagram, different picture each day.
but some stuff happened before i went.

first off...i went to Fan Fest at BOA stadium. i got to watch my boys practice. just a note: practice isn't nearly as exciting as a game. but it was free, and we sat so close, we could hear their conversations. we could also hear all the crazy fans screaming to Cam as he ran around afterwords signing autographs.
that woman in the pink backpack yelled "YEA, YOU  BETTER COME OVER HERE AND SIGN THIS SINCE YOU ARE GOING TO BE MY HUSBAND ONE DAY. THAT'S RIGHT. I'M YOUR WIFE AND BABY MOMMA!". it was mildly awkward for everyone around her. She didn't sound very "haha, this is funny" about it. I was worried she might stab him with something hidden in the backpack.

then something very sad happened. Dawn moved out. She was moving while i was going to be gone, so we had a 5 minute farewell before I hit the road. this was the last time i saw her. EVER
then to Maryland...
